HOW TO GET TO ST PETERSBURG

The bus connection between Saint-Petersburg and other cities in Russia and abroad is operated by numerous tour agencies, including the well-known shuttle bus system “Eurolines”. The most popular destinations of the bus connection are Belarus, Ukraine, Germany, Finland, Baltic states and Scandinavia. The central bus station is a bit out of the way at Naberezhnaya Obvodnogo kanala 36, which is a short taxi-ride (around 100Rbl) to the centre of town and about a 15-minute walk to metro Ligovsky pr.
Eurolines buses arrive at Baltiiskaya metro, while some bus companies have stops at the city’s main hotels
The many different bus companies operating out of St. Petersburg means that you could be dropped off at a number of different bus stops.

Taxi

There are no fixed fees for taxis, so you will need to negotiate your fare in advance. Be aware, though, because taxis from the airport are notoriously expensive. A taxi driver can ask you between $20 and $50 for a 10 minute drive to the nearest metro station, depending on the type of his car.

By Train

All stations are well equipped, offering services of booking offices, business centers, cafes, restaurants, restrooms, waiting rooms and ATMs. Four out of five stations are located on the same metro line, which is extremely comfortable for transit travelers.

All trains leaving to Moscow depart from here, including the best in the country, like “Krasnaya Strela” (“Red Arrow”), “Aurora”, “ER-200”, “Nikolayevsky express”. Also, the following directions are served as well: Adler, Arkhangelsk, Vorkuta, Kazan, Murmansk, Ekaterinburg, and many other cities.
Short distance suburban trains also leave from the translation to the southern destinations.

“Nevsky prospect” metro

By Ferry

Ferry services operating to St Petersburg are no longer available.   Ferries instead could be taken to Finland or Estonia, from where buses or trains can take you the rest of the way.

Cruise ships moor right in the city centre near the Leitenant Shmidt Bridge.  From here it is a pleasant walk along the Neva River to the Hermitage. River cruises to/from Moscow or Valaam (Lake Ladoga) anchor at the river terminal on Prospekt Obukhovskoy Oborony 209, ( Vodochod Saint Petersburg) near Proletarskaya metro (14Rbl, 15min to the city centre).
